With the news reports from NASA researchers that the recent earthquake in Chile has shifted the Earth's axis and shortened the day, many people are wondering just what Edgar Cayce had to say about the possibility of a pole shift. When asked 'What great change or the beginning of what change, if any, is to take place in the Earth in the year 2000 to 2001 A.D.?' Cayce answered: 'When there is the shifting of the poles; or a new cycle begins.'

The Maya also saw a new era beginning in the first years of the new millennium but, according to their artifacts, it begins when the present age of 'Movement' ends on December 21, 2012 A.D. Astronomers believe the axis wobble (like a spinning top slowing) has been occurring for ages and causes the North Pole to point to different Pole Stars or North Stars. How often this occurs is unclear. According to leading scientific teams at major research centers, axis shifts have only occurred every few million or billion years and taken millions of years to be completed.

According to other worthy sources (e.g., Encyclopedia Britannica Educational Corporation, York Films, and The Learning Channel), the wobble changes the Pole Star about every 24,000 to 26,000 years. In Hinduism a full day and night in the Brahma equals roughly 24,000 years, a Kali-kalpa. Cayce states that the ancient Egyptians knew of these shifts and the Great Pyramid of Giza was built so as to point to the Axis or Pole Star. Edgar Cayce gave a reading that spoke of a change in the Pole Star of Earth. He explained that the Great Pyramid of Giza represented the various ages we have been going through. He said, 'At the correct time accurate imaginary lines can be drawn from the opening of the great Pyramid to the second star in the great Dipper, called Polaris or the North Star.' He must be using the word 'great' as an adjective of importance because Polaris is in the Little Dipper, but it is, as Cayce said, 'the second star.'

(SAO 209 is the first, but is not shown in the accompanying illustration.) The north pole of Earth's spinning axis points to a star, considered the Pole Star. According to Edgar Cayce, we are about to see a change in our Pole Star, from Polaris to Vega. In Ancient Egypt, the Pole Star was Thuban. This marks a move into a new era, new age. Cayce said, 'This indicates it is the system toward which the soul takes its flight after having completed its sojourn through this solar system. The Dipper is gradually changing, and when this change becomes noticeable - as might be calculated from the Pyramid - there will be the beginning of the change in the races he's speaking of root races not color races.

There will come a greater influx of souls from the Atlantean, Lemurian, La, Ur, or Da civilizations.' He then explained that this pyramid was built in this manner by Ra and Hermes and many others who 'sought to bring to man a better understanding of the close relationship between the Creative Forces and that created, between man and man, and man and his Maker.' He then cautioned us that 'only those who have been called may truly understand. Who then has been called?

Whosoever will make him or herself a channel may be raised to a blessing.' Let's examine the relationship of the entrance to the Great Pyramid and the shifting Pole Stars. In the diagrams accompanying this article you will see the three main Pole Stars for our little blue planet: Thuban, Polaris, and Vega.

During the age of ancient Egypt, Thuban was the North Star, i.e., at midnight above the North Pole, Thuban would have been the northernmost star. Of course, today the North Star is Polaris. However, Vega will be the North Star in the future.

But this would require our little blue planet to roll over dramatically! Viewing from the North Pole: The shift from Thuban to Polaris would have been about 26°. The shift from Polaris to Vega would be about 51°, a much more significant pole shift. If one draws an imaginary line from the entrance of the Great Pyramid on the Spring Equinox (about March 22-25) in 4000+ B.C., 2000 A.D., and 10000 A.D., it points directly to the northern star of each age: Thuban, Polaris, and Vega, respectively.

Hermes, Ra, and all the others involved sure knew what they were doing when they built that magnificent monument. At the Spring Equinox during ancient Egyptian times Thuban is the Pole Star of the Pyramid. Since Polaris indicates 'the system towards which the soul takes flight,' could the change to Vega indicate a new flight pattern? Vega is a blue-white star and the fifth brightest star in the sky. It is in the constellation Lyra, the Harp or Lyre of the musician Orpheus.

It was said that when Orpheus played this instrument, neither mortal nor god could turn away (Orpheus also introduced reincarnation into Greek mythology, a key concept in Cayce’s teachings as well). Interestingly, Vega marks the approximate direction toward which our sun and all its planets are traveling through space. At the Spring Equinox during our present time, Polaris is the Pole Star of the Pyramid. Here's the hard news: In order to have shifted from Thuban as the Pole Star to Polaris, the Earth would have shifted its northern axis pole about 26°, not a drastic shift. However, in order to shift from Polaris as the Pole Star to Vega, the Earth will have to shift its northern axis pole a whopping 51°! But, if it is done gradually, over a very long period of time, as Cayce indicated it would, then we should not be expecting a dramatic pole shift in the next few years. It's enough to know that the present age is ending and a new age is beginning.

At the Spring Equinox of the future, Vega will be the Pole Star of the Pyramid. As many of you know, Cayce said that during this new age we will regain the powers we had in our earliest incarnations into this world during the age of Atlantis and Lemuria or Mu. This was prior to our souls becoming as encased in matter as we are today and back when we had godly powers to solve our material needs more easily.

Of course, Cayce warned that we did not handle these powers well, leading to the destruction of these ancient lands. When asked what the New Age means to humanity, Edgar Cayce replied: 'the full consciousness of the ability to communicate with the Creative Forces and be aware of the relationships to the Creative Forces and the uses of same in material environs. This awareness during the era or age in the Age of Atlantis and Lemuria or Mu brought what? Destruction to man, and his beginning of the needs of the journey up through that of selfishness.Edgar Cayce reading 1602-3. Gullibility and Credulity are two of the greatest enemies of serious. When any attention-seeking PhD pronounces on the location of Atlantis, there is always a herd of credulous listeners willing to believe what they say. Having abandoned their critical faculties, many of these will pay good money to purchase their books. Some, having committed their cash in support of a given idea, will often be reluctant to later switch to any other competing theory. The history of Atlantology has recorded a recurring pattern.

It was not until the 15 th century that Plato’s complete Atlantis story was made available in Europe with the Latin translation of, which was around the same time that America was discovered. This led to a knee-jerk reaction identifying the New World with Atlantis. In due course the was discovered leading to a variety of claims, placing Atlantis in the Atlantic. Then the civilisation was rediscovered which led to their identification as Atlantean, an idea consolidated by the unearthing of Minoan remains on Santorini following a 2 nd millennium BC eruption of the volcano there.

Obviously, there were many other proposed locations, but the American, Atlantic and Minoan theories have persisted over the centuries. If is fully applied to any these locations they will, in my opinion, fail as the site of Plato’s Atlantis. An online article on the subject of gullibility is worth a read (a). Critical Thinking is the only way forward in the pursuit of truth whether it is in respect of or any other area of interest. It’s an unfortunate aspect of our nature that we humans seem to believe all too quickly what we want to believe rather than what can be demonstrated. This is particularly true in the case of religious faith as well as ‘fringe’ beliefs such as astrology, tarot cards or channelling.

It also applies to more secular matters like politics or even controversial subjects including the existence and/or nature of Atlantis. Atlantis has spawned a virtually endless collection of outlandish theories, each of which has its believers.

Plato’s island has been variously claimed to have been founded by aliens, located at both poles, had flying machines, electricity and monorail transport and this is just a few of the more entertaining claims. The application of critical thinking (a)(b) to any of the above suggestions would expose them for the falsehoods they are. However, keep in mind what Lenin said – “A lie told often enough becomes truth.” An example of this is the repetition to this day, a century later, of the fraudulent Atlantis claims of, long after they were exposed as untrue (c).

Also consider, a 2016 large-scale study (d) which concluded that “The results don’t prove that relatively poor analytical thinking skills cause people to become believers in psychic phenomena, but they are certainly consistent with the idea that a lack of these skills may leave people more prone to developing such beliefs.” (a) (b) (c) (d). P ole Shift is a term used to describe a range of theories that includes an alteration to or even the complete reversal of the magnetic poles, a change to the axis of rotation of the entire planet as well as a possible sudden movement of the outer crust of the Earth relative to its axis. The magnetic poles are always on the move and well documented, while their complete reversal is a much slower process, previous reversals have left us geological ‘fingerprints’. It is suggested that another reversal is imminent, while some ‘prophets of doom’ have nominated late 2013 for the event, with dire consequences for mankind (f).

The latest data shows drift of about 40 miles a year, with a recent movement of 161 miles in just six months, creating navigation problems and the re-designation of airport runways which are named after their compass orientation (i). The idea of wandering (magnetic) Poles was first proposed by the German priest Damian Kreichgauer(1859-1940) (g) in 1902 , although at the time he found little support for the concept. The late Terrence Aym was of the opinion (l) that a magnetic pole reversal was a sign that the next Ice Age was beginning! Today, NASA provides us with a more sober view of the phenomenon of magnetic pole shifts. There are a number of variations on the basic concept of an axial change and an array of suggestions for the date of the last displacement. Generally speaking the mechanism required to cause such a catastrophe is believed to be an impact by or close encounter with a large or comet. The continuing discovery of huge impact craters around the globe reinforces this possibility.

However, recent studies have identified other processes that may have led to polar changes in the past (e). The earliest proposal of an axial displacement was probably that put forward in 1873 by, who also linked this to the destruction of Atlantis (n). The suggestion of an Antarctic location for Atlantis, as proposed by Rose and , is totally dependent on a pole shift. The Flem-Aths have interpreted the characteristics of our present icecaps as strong evidence for a number of previous pole shifts. This idea was inspired by the work of , who was convinced by such evidence as the and other ancient maps that seemed indicated the existence of an Ice Age civilisation now partly covered by the Antarctic icecap.Hapgood has noted.71 that in the 1950’s Karl A.

Pauly and George W. Bain also supported a form of crustal shift, the former building on the work of A. Eddington of some decades earlier. is the title of an assignment (p) given to first-year geology students at Malaspina University-College in British Columbia. It was set by lecturer Professor Steven Earle with intention of developing the of his students. The objective of the task is to investigate the Crustal Displacement theory of the Flem-Aths, whose ‘Atlantis in the Antarctic’ hypothesis is totally dependent on the occurrence of a pole shift. Pole Shift by John White, frequently associates the destruction of Atlantis with a pole shift and anticipates another one in the near future, but unfortuntely, most of the ‘evidence’ he offers in support of this contention comes from psychic sources, which cannot be accept as reliable.

However, it seems that some years later White completely revised his opinions according to a 1996 report (m). Although the majority opinion is that pole shifts occurred as a result of encounters with extraterrestrial bodies, Hapgood contended that only the outer crust of the earth shifted and that this was the result of a build-up of ice at the Poles causing instability. However, it has since been calculated that the polar ice constitutes such a small percentage of the mass of the crust that it could not possibly have caused the slippage proposed by Hapgood. This idea and others are discussed on the Pole Shift Forum (o). Another researcher, S.F.Wells, was prompted by Flem-Ath’s work to examine the Avebury stone circle to see if there was any evidence of a pole shift there.

John White

To his surprise he did discover at Avebury and at other ancient monuments in the locality clear evidence of a pole change of up to 30° in the past. In 2003 he wrote a paper outlining his observations (c). A number of facts are proposed to support the idea of a pole shift. One of the most popular is the extermination of the mammoth, which once again was central to a recent book by Charles Ginenthal, The Extinction of the Mammoth , who dates the last pole shift to around 1500 BC. Perhaps the most impressive evidence came fromin November 2009 (b) when settlements dated to 9000 BC were discovered in the north of the country in a region that according to accepted theory should have been covered by ice at that time. Points out that the orientation of some Mayan Temples is apparently out by around 17 degrees from what would be expected. A structural feature at the 4,000 year old temple of Saar in Bahrain is believed to have been used to record the summer solstice is now out by 10 degrees.

Similar anomalies were noted byduring his study of ancient. A further indication that our present knowledge of polar changes may be flawed is highlighted by the fact that on April 15 th 136 BC we have a record of an eclipse that completely darkened Babylon that should have had its zone of totality over the Balearic Islands in the Western Mediterranean. This is a difference of nearly 50 degrees and implies that either the Earth has slowed or the polar axis has shifted.

Also claims that the Earth ‘tilted’ around 10,000 BC (d) referring to two ancient quotations that may support the reality of this Pole Shift – one from Plato (Tim.22d) and the other from the Book of Enoch/Noah (65.1). The (a) contain many articles relating to an impending pole shift based on the readings of. In October 2004, a Russian astrophysicist claimed that Atlantis was located in the Yukon River valley in.

This, he believes, was the result of a pole shift although he admits that scientific evidence is lacking for this theory! A recent overview of the Pole Shift theory was published in July 2014 (h). The P iri R eis M ap (1513) (c) was a world map drawn on gazelle skin of which only the left-hand side still exists.

It was a composite of detail gleaned from a large collection of maps collected by Piri Ibn Haji Mehmed (14), an admiral or ‘reis’ in the Ottoman navy. It was discovered in 1929 in the Topkapi Palace library in Istanbul by Gustav Deissmann. In 1956 a Turkish naval officer presented the map to the U.S. Navy Hydrographic Office. From there, it was first fully investigated by Captain Arlington H. Mallery, who had spent years studying ancient maps.

He is now better remembered as a controversial amateur archaeologist. Mallery concluded that the map accurately depicted an ice-free Antarctica. This map has become one of the controversial elements in the theory of an Antarctic Atlantis so strongly promoted by.

They followed the views of , who, having studied a range of ancient maps, were convinced that they showed parts of Antarctica as ice-free. However, the principal argument against this idea is that the removal of the massive Antarctic ice cap would have had two effects: (i) The consequent would have altered the coast line dramatically and unpredictably.

(ii) The melting of the icecap would have raised sea levels, producing further changes to the coastline of the exposed continent. Nevertheless, the late Robert supports the antiquity of the original maps upon which the Piri Reis Maps and other medieval charts were based and he supports the idea of an inhabited ice-free Antarctica. A view contrary to the Flem-Aths can be found in a recent book by Gregory McIntosh. A website ( b ) debunking the value of the Piri Reis map by Professor Steve Dutch of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay should be read in order to get a more balanced view of the controversy. Has also added a highly critical paper with many references (a).Professor Steven Earle uses an assignment entitled ‘‘ (g ) for his geology students in order to hone their, which focuses on the Flem-Ath’s preferred variant of Pole Shift Theory known as Crustal Displacement.

What the Piri Reis Map has done for, the Nicolo Zeno Map of 1380 has done for which appears to show a deglaciated landmass. Features, hidden by ice but confirmed by modern seismic soundings, are apparently shown. However, controversy has dogged the Nicolo Zeno Map as much as the Piri Reis chart.

Phillipe Buache the renowned French geographer also published a map of ice-free Antarctica in 1737, long before its recorded discovery and centuries before seismic surveys revealed the topography of the sub-glacial landmass. The source of the data for this map is so far unexplained.

In 2004, Jean-Pierre Lacroix & Robert Bywater presented a paper (d) to the International Piri Reis Symposium in which they made the radical claim that the western part of the Piri Reis map was in fact a depiction of the outline of east and southeast Asia, rather than the Caribbean. The ancient-origins website (e) has a number of papers relating to the Piri Reis Map. The most recent studies (f) include a map showing the effects of just a partial retreat of the icesheet, showing exposed coastlines, during the Pliocene era, which again indicates an outline of the landmass at variance with the Piri Reis Map.
